Using the writer and philosopher Marquis De Sade (1740-1814) as a point of departure, Chan’s exhibition featured moving image works, ink and charcoal drawings, and a sculpture that consider how De Sade’s obsessions with forms of sex, violence, freedom, and reason echo in the 21st century. Having explored the aesthetic and philosophical potential of fonts for nearly a decade, Chan also produced for this exhibition a set of Sadean fonts that transform any letter into a stream of pornographic drivels, mimicking the sound of orgasm.

The poster uses these fonts to obscure unknown original content into a pure carnal experience. The backside of the poster shows nine charcoal portraits of Supreme Court judges that Chan created for the exhibition.
